Verified profile

The Hampstead Ensemble was formed by three recent first-class graduates of the Royal Academy of Music in London 2016. A truly international ensemble, with musicians hailing from Spain, Sweden, and the UK, we are passionate about various repertoire, ensuring the perfect fit for every occasion, from weddings, baptisms and funerals, to corporate events, parties and concert recitals. We regularly perform background and function work in the UK, and have performed at places such as Royal Society of Medicine, Royal Academy of Arts, as well as for companies such as Howard de Walden Estates and Bvlgari. We are highly professional and make sure to select suitable music for every occasion. Wherever we have played, the overwhelming feedback from clients has stated that they were extremely pleased with the varied music selection, and being just right in terms of volume - not too loud, but always able to be heard! We perform mostly as a string trio, but are also happy to perform as a string duo, string quartet or even provide a small string ensemble/orchestra for your event, but please be in touch beforehand to discuss your specific requirements. Repertoire may vary for other combinations, but we endeavour to make sure there are equally fantastic alternatives available in every combination you would like. We have several trusted colleagues to call upon wherever we need to expand the group with extra musicians to suit your request, and we will always ensure music making of the highest standard! We play everything from Baroque, Classical, and contemporary classical compositions, to pop covers, tangos, and jazz arrangements. No request is too obscure! We are always happy for prospective clients to get in touch about suitable repertoire, or if they have any other general questions. Please have a look at our sample repertoire list below to get an idea of what is on offer. We also have a vast experience in the field of recording, having recorded for ROLI software, Video games, strings backing for pop artists, etc. Please note that recording fees apply to such sessions (which are different from our live rates), should you wish to make a booking. Please make an enquiry for an accurate quote before booking. We hold a Public Liability Insurance for up to £10 million.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, we do! We provide string duos, quartets or larger string ensembles.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try to be as flexible as possible - just let us know about the changes as soon as you can!

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually arrive 30 mins before we’re due to start playing, but our actual set-up time is only about 5 minutes!

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

We usually recommend that couples choose their particular songs for the actual wedding ceremony. If you have songs you definitely want to hear, let us know! We usually select pieces on the day to suit the mood of the event - every event is unique!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, we do. However, if we are required to play outdoors we need adequate cover to play under - please speak to us if you have any questions!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

We are always happy to learn new pieces and create beautiful bespoke arrangements of pieces that are special to you. We charge a small arrangement & rehearsal fee of £40 for creating new arrangements.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our clients are always impressed by our playing and music selection, as well as our prompt and friendly communication leading up to the event. We have also been commended for our smooth set-up and understanding of the event, whether it is a masked ball or a wedding!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed in many different places, Stock Brook Country Club, The Grange Wedding Venue, Fanhams Hall, Bvlgari Hotel, the Shard... the list goes on!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We always seek inspiration from the very best musicians, but when we play for example pop arrangements we spend a lot of time listening to the artist in question and try to make the best interpretation we can of their song!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

This is a difficult question.. we all grew up as talented young musicians and (as long as we can remember!) have performed before Kings and Queens, Wigmore Hall (London), Carnegie Hall (New York)...
