About Guillermo Willis

Bandoneon soloist playing Tango repertoire arranged by Astor Piazzolla, Leopoldo Federico, and Rodolfo Mederos. I may mix Baroque pieces.
Bandoneon
London

Buenos Aires-born, London-based bandoneon player. I studied the instrument in Argentina with the maestros Rodolfo Daluisio and Néstor Marconi, with whom I played both Tango and Classical repertoire. I also hold a BA in Music from the Manuel de Falla Conservatoire (2015). I started playing the instrument after seeing a solo performance from Rodolfo Mederos, and fifteen years later I still feel amazed about the impact this instrument has on people when it is played alone. It was delightful to spend the past eight years in Tango bands from Buenos Aires such as TrasCartón Tango and La Pícara Tango. In the meanwhile, I recorded some solo sessions of Tango and Baroque music in 2018 and 2020, which you may find on other platforms in their entirety. In London, I play regularly at Poster Hauss. I have also been invited various times by the London Tango Orchestra and the Tango Terra Quartet to play along with them. But London offers some as amazing as unexpected opportunities: I co-presented on BBC4 Joshua Bell's concert of Piazzolla's Seasons, having been able to play for a short while. Scroll through these videos and you'll find that highlight!
