I studied Classical Piano and Trumpet at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After graduating with a BA(Musical Studies) degree, I studied jazz piano for two years at St Andrew’s University and went on to become an employee of ‘Carnaval Cruise Lines’ as a show-band musician and cocktail pianist. So far, I have enjoyed a varied musical career: performing as an accompanist with numerous professional companies, ensembles & soloists; performing new initiatives such as the British Sinfonietta Orchestra’s ‘Computer Games Live’ series; giving solo recitals; playing throughout Scotland as a wedding ceremonial and cocktail pianist. As well as being a member of the Scottish Tango Ensemble, I am also a founding member of the Shimmy Grand Ceilidh Band, pianist and accordionist with Pacific Wedding Band and also a Sergeant in the Highland Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. I also enjoy teaching piano and have been employed by Fife Council, Stevenson College in Edinburgh and currently with Falkirk Council.

We cannot recommend Gregor enough. For our wedding we specifically wanted three songs one of which did not have sheet music available but was a particular favourite of my new husband, Gregor learnt this from listening to the song, he played a great version of it and it was instantly recognisable and enjoyed by family. We also received lots of positive comments from many of the guests who enjoyed Gregors playing. We would also say he was very professional on the day and very responsive to any requests or suggestions we had prior to it.

Gregor performed a wonderful selection of pieces whilst our guests arrived at our castle wedding. He created a perfect atmosphere from the outset and numerous guests (many of them musicians) commented on the high standard of his musicianship. We would have no hesitation in highly recommending him for your special day.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible so that your event runs as smoothly as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can certainly play background music from a playlist before or between sets but I tend to play for the duration. For wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions and meals, I play as soon as guests start to arrive and continue until the end of my set.

How much time do you need to set up?

I take approximately 20 minutes to set up but I always aim to arrive 60 minutes before so that I can liaise with venue staff and allow for any traffic problems. I can also set up a piano shell which turns my digital piano into what looks like a baby grand. This costs a little extra and takes an additional 20 minutes to set up.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

I am happy to play on the venue's piano (or organ/pipe organ for wedding ceremonies) provided the venue is happy for me to use this. I always take my digital piano with me in case there are any unforeseen problems with the venue's instrument.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

You can pick songs from my set list and you can make requests before the day, even if these are not on my setlist. All I require is a little time to listen and prepare these. I tend to judge the age and dynamic of the room and play something for everyone.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, absolutely. I want to make your day as special and individual as possible.
