Giving Down The Banks

We are the Edinburgh-based duo, Giving Down the Banks, consisting of Ciara on bodhran and vocals, and Henry on vocals and guitar, and we play a unique blend of traditional and new. For our traditional songs, we dig deep into Irish, Scottish, English, and American lesser known songs, with a few more commonly known songs also reimagined, plus we reinterpret newer songs with an imaginative, folk-painted brush. We are often joined on stage by a fiddle or accordian player. So we can play as a duo or a trio. What you'll experience with us as musicians is a very creative presentation of trad and contemporary music, with a nice flow between upbeat and slower; punctuality and professionalism; concerted effort to promote our show; and a friendly and engaging interaction with the audience. We both have decades of experience in performing, and we have played at folk clubs, charity events, private events, festivals, markets, and various other venues.
