Gilly French

Gilly French is a conductor, artistic director and singer. She is music director of Cantandum, a London-based quality chamber choir, Imperial Winds and Kingston Madrigal Society, and is also founder and artistic director of Bampton Classical Opera, a small professional company with a national reputation for revivals of relatively unknown 18th century music. Her repertory ranges from unaccompanied consort music through staged opera to modern band classics. As a singer, she is a member of Cantandum, an a capella octet associated with the choir of the same name, which sings the services at St John’s Smith Square and gives occasional concerts in the area, and of Bampton Classical Voices, a professional ensemble associated with the opera company. She has also sung with the New London Chamber Choir, Holst Singers, Clerkes of Oxenford, Royal Hospital Chelsea and St Stephen’s Gloucester Road, and gives regular recitals as a member of the Holcot Ensemble (voice, violin and piano).
