Gemma Davies

I studied at Junior Trinity College of Music for 5 years, studying oboe with Janey Miller, alongside performing with the JT Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, and JT Choir as well as multiple other smaller ensembles. I completed my Music GCSE and A-Levels here, as well as studying piano with Robert Hunter, improvisation with Kerry Andrew, and musicianship lessons. I was a regular member of Sidcup Symphony Orchestra and the Vanburgh Ensemble before heading to university. From 2013-2016, I attended the University of Bristol, where I was heavily involved with the music department: I was principal oboe of the University of Bristol Chamber Orchestra for three years, the Opera Orchestra, and multiple smaller ensembles, as well as working on new experimental music from postgraduate composers. During this time, I also regularly depped for Bristol Symphony Orchestra and studied briefly with Imogen Triner. Since returning to London, I have been playing with multiple ensembles and orchestras in a range of styles, including the Amati Orchestra, Bromley Symphony Orchestra and the Brixton Chamber Orchestra. I am keen to explore different styles of music and am always up for an unusual project as well as more traditional concerts.
