Customer questions
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
This isn’t a problem and can be accommodated easily - it is quite common with events, so I’ve come to anticipate this can happen. It’s always better to confirm changes in times as soon as possible, so we can all adapt as necessary.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
Absolutely. This will need to confirmed at the time of booking, but, assuming I am required to bring a PA system to event, it’s fairly safe to say it will be part of the package. There
How much time do you need to set up?
This is entirely dependent on what you’re booking me to play. If I’m a solo acoustic ukulele-player, 5minutes, but if I’m providing a PA system and electric guitar equipment, if could be as much as 90mins.
Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?
My sets are compiled with songs that work well together, and appeal to a wide range of tastes and age groups. I also have additional repertoire I can add in order to follow the mood of a dance floor / venue and keep them going! Recommendations from the list are always welcome, but sometimes it’s better for you to highlight the ones you definitely don’t want!
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
Yes. In the rare case that an additional act is booked, there may be a scenario where I share equipment, however I will always be sufficient when required.
Can you learn specific pieces before the event?
Absolutely, although outside of a first dance or favourite song for a birthday boy/girl, they would need to be OK’d with us first.
What do your clients love most about your performances?
They’re perfectly positioned - gentle background to drop into, or the right mix of tunes to keep the ‘floor jumping! I’m sensitive to the volume of the room, and make concerted efforts to effectively be part of the wider venue team, seamlessly working to provide you with the perfect musical backdrop.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Cliveden House, The Dorchester London, The Royal Opera House, Woburn Abbey, Grosvenor House London, Institute of Directors, The Gardening Museum, Hammersmith Apollo, The Oxo Tower London, Pizza Express Jazz Club London, and many more.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
While at university I was once practising guitar on the tube when Martin Taylor (one of the world's best jazz guitarists) sat in front of me. What followed was a magical lesson/conversation and since then I have been committed to learning and playing in his style and his contemporaries.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
I have been privileged to play in many beautiful venues, however I am very proud of my association with Cliveden House. It is always a privilege to perform and work there, and I always strive to deliver the best service possible.
