Gareth Holwill

Gareth Holwill was born in the UK and began his guitar studies as a Music Scholar at Uppingham School. Gareth holds a BA(Hons) in Music and an MA in Advanced Musical Studies from the University of Bristol. He subsequently studied for a PGDip in Guitar Performance at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Eleftheria Kotzia and John Mills. A versatile musician, Gareth has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, the Welsh Millennium Centre, Christ Church Oxford, the Victoria Rooms, Brangwyn Hall and venues across Europe. In 2008 he gave the world premiere of the Sonata by Tim Benjamin. The Stachowiak Holwill Guitar Duo was formed in 2017 and has since performed across the South East of England. Trained to post graduate level as a composer and guitarist, Gareth is able to cater for many musical requirements. Although his specialism is in classical guitar performance, Gareth also has extensive experience playing electric guitar in big bands, pit orchestras and performing jazz, funk, soul, pop and rock. Gareth has extensive experience as an educator and holds a PGCE in Secondary Music from Canterbury Christ Church University. He taught for Buckinghamshire Music Trust for many years and is currently Head of Guitar and Piano for Berkshire Maestros.
