Born in Montréal, Gabriel Quenneville-Bélair is a French Canadian pianist who regularly performs in the US and Canada. He has performed Tchaikovsky’s Concerto No. 1 with the OSI and OPMEM Orchestras (Canada) as well as with the Kenwood Symphony and the University of Minnesota Orchestra (USA). His performances have been broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio, Radio Ville-Marie, Baby Blue Arts, and Pulsar. More recently, he was invited to perform a solo recital and masterclass in July 2016 by the Musicians’ Association of Tai’an, China.
Gabriel has been the recipient of many competitions and scholarships, including first prizes at the University of Minnesota Concerto Competition, Thursday Musical and Schubert Club Competitions in the Twin Cities, and the APMQ Festival, the Concours Vallée-des-Champs, and the Festival de musique du Royaume in Québec. Gabriel received the Centennial Fellowship from the University of Minnesota, the Gilles-Gauthier Scholarship from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, five scholarships from the Orford Arts Center, along with ten scholarships from the Fondation de soutien aux arts de Laval.
Gabriel Quenneville-Bélair earned his Doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota in June 2016, studying with Lydia Artymiw and his Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal with Richard Raymond.
