About Funkin' Souled Out

We are an eight piece Funk and Soul band playing classic songs from the super ‘70s.

Playing hits from Chic, Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Jamiroquai, Sister Sledge, Aretha Franklin, The Jacksons, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown and so many more. We are all trained musicians with a passion for funk, soul and disco. In the last 5 years we have grown a large following and fan base, we have performed at Carfest, headlined at Wokingham Festival, Readipop and Glofest; played major London venues and performed at countless weddings, parties and corporate events. We love what we do, and there's nothing better than vibing with a crowd. As one of our fans puts it: "You guys were absolutely awesome - seen loads of cover bands over the years but you are the tightest, most foot stomping, dance floor filling, best! Loved it."

“Pulsating drumbeats, thundering basslines, staccato keyboards, dexterously flicked bongos, a dynamic lead singer and back up vocalists, all held together by a really tight brass and woodwind section, gave serious vent to a non-stop stream of soul and disco classics culminating in an exuberant and Hi NRG delivery of the Thelma Houston / Communards classic "Don't Leave Me This Way" which had the audience hand clappin', foot stompin', butt shakin' and generally gyrating furiously. What do your clients love most about your performances?

We are a high energy band, we dance, we interact with the crowd, and we get everyone up on their feet. We are all live musicians, no backing tracks or recordings are used, ever.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We play festivals such as Carfest, Wokingham, Glofest, Readipop; we play at 229 club in London, Acoustic Couch, Furze Platt Theatre, Pinder Hall and many more.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Nile Rodgers, Sister Sledge and Chic are a big influence. We also love Curtis Mayfield, Smoove & Turrell, Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind and Fire to name a few.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

This year we headlined at Wokingham Music Festival to 2000+ people. This was a big highlight for us. Incredible event and crowd. We have also played Carfest two years running.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes! Always the same lead singer.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes for smaller venues and/or smaller budgets we can perform as a 5 piece set up which includes drums, bass, lead guitar, vocals, saxophone

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are always flexible on timings just keep us updated and we will do our best to accommodate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes we can do this no problem, we often provide playlists pre and post gig.

How much time do you need to set up?

Ideally we need at least an hour to set up and sound check for private events, for festivals we work with the organisers schedule.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course - we have a few set list options depending on the genre you like the best and whether you want high energy dance floor fillers or cool grooves. Happy to chat through what works best for your event.
