Elliot from Funk Yeah absolutely nailed the music for our Linkar launch. He kept the energy just right with a solid blend of soul and disco, upbeat with people vibing but still able to chat and enjoy the night. He brought his own setup which was handy, and created such a great atmosphere for the evening. Loads of guests asked who was DJing... I hope to get him back for future events!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The feel-good vibes, the group energy, and the music that gets people moving. We usually perform as a pair (or more), so there’s always a party feel to what we do — bouncing off each other and the crowd. Clients often mention how friendly, polite, and easy we are to work with, as well as the unique records we bring along.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have residencies DJing at The Refuge and The Crown & Kettle and in Manchester, and have played across the North West at venues like the Jacaranda (Liverpool), and various bars, clubs, and pop-ups.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

e were inspired by the growing Northern Soul DJ scene, but wanted to put our own spin on it — leaning more into funk, soul, and groove-based selections. Artist-wise, it’s a proper mix: classic soul voices like Bill Withers, the energy of James Brown, deep funk cuts, disco gems, and anything that gets people moving.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Our weekly residency at The Refuge in Manchester is our most high-profile gig to date. It’s a beautiful, well-regarded venue where we play early evening vinyl sets (5–8pm), creating a warm, soulful atmosphere for a mix of diners, drinkers, and music lovers.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes! We perform as a duo (our standard setup), or with 3 or 4 DJs for back-to-back sets and full Funk Yeah! takeovers. For longer events (4+ hours per DJ), we recommend adding an extra head to keep energy high and the music flowing.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We’re flexible and happy to adapt to slight timing changes where possible. Just keep us in the loop as early as you can and we’ll do our best to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. We can provide a playlist-based service before, between or after our vinyl sets using our mixer.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually need around 30–45 minutes to load in, set up our decks, and soundcheck. If we’re also supplying PA, we may need up to 90 minutes. We’ll arrive in good time to make sure everything’s ready to go.

Can you roam around while you perform?

As vinyl DJs, one of us needs to stay at the decks — but if we’re performing as a duo, the other can roam, interact with guests, and help bring the energy to the floor. If you’re after a more mobile setup (e.g. live sax or percussion), we’re happy to collaborate or advise!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We’re happy to take requests in advance — if it’s a digital setup, we can be more flexible. For vinyl sets, most of our selections come from our crates, so it depends if we have the record! If you share a theme or a few favourites, we’ll do our best to match that.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our initial quote covers our DJing services only. PA system, lighting, and equipment hire (like decks or mixer) are available as add-ons — just let us know what your venue provides, and we’ll help fill in any gaps.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Since we’re vinyl-based, “learning” a request usually means digging for the record! We’re happy to take a few requests in advance and will do our best to track them down — or, if we’re using a digital setup, we can load specific tracks ahead of time.
