Birthed in a family that has strived and struggled to give me the opportunity to come to the UK, my name is Fredlin Morency, and I am the son of a pastor in the small Islands of Turks and Caicos located in the Caribbean. I have moved to England about 4 years ago in pursuing a music and sports career as this had placed me in the limelight to gain an audience and attract supporters. very optimistic and passionate some may refer to me as; As I am constantly looking forward to the next big oppurtunity and believe in my ability God has granted me to eventually come to success. Growing up I have performed a possible hundreds of times within the Caribbean, where I joined my primary school pageant, placing first runner up ( lost to a 3 years below, I blame it on heartfelt sympathy the judges had! Nevertheless, took it on the chin and still really enjoyed it!) I’ve also represented my primary and initial high school in the Caribbean for music performances, being in the steelpan band and the grand musical band, playing for devotions which all did not stop when I arrived at Leeds city academy. In fact this intensified( in a really amazing way ) I got to perform at the children’s carnival, being that I made really good friends with Sheila Howarth, a strong black women who had empowered me and acted as a mother figure to me within my school and within life itself. I have also performed with my sister, who also sings wonderfully, in the GCF workshops(a charity that i currently hold a position in as an artist, and music teacher etc), I have been able to join the caution collective group whom shows are litterally anticipated as a GRAND ordeal each year! and was made assitant Musical director tutoring different choir groups and children music groups. All of which had brought me incredible joy and I am truly humbled and honoured to have made it this far. Resilience have been a strong factor in my life, I have a why; the reason I wake up every day and pray, and that is simply I have to make my father and my mother immensely and incredibly proud to where we live a comfortable life and use my soon to come platform to bless others that would have been in the same position I am in currently. I have lived a mere 17 years of my life of which I’ve learned to play the piano ( my main instrument) the drums( due to my brother being a drummer), the guitar( as a hobby ) and the bass; all in the local church my father was called upon to lead. I not only sing and consider myself a growing singer, songwriter, aranger, musician but I am also a growing artist(visual), where I currently study arts in A-level, with a predicted of a* where hopefully I am able to one day merge the talents of music and arts and really fulfil my purpose. Mainly writing and performing R&B, Pop, and gospel song; I find that I’m driven by the concept of allowing someone to feel your emotions, your heartbreaks, your past trauma, your goals, your ambitions, feel hope etc. and being able to tie this all together in a neat bow of a beautiful melody, light-hearted humour and joy, embedded within a universal language that makes people feel and truly connect to your soul, Music. That is what music means to me. In my lowest moment I’m able to put that into a song but also therapeutically heal myself and remembering to always put words of encouragement that it does genuinely gets better. Being that voice that truly represents every single aspect of life

Fredlin was an integral part of our Reggae Roots youth choir when we performed at The World Reimagined closing party at The Tetley on Thursday 17th November. He led on piano and was the main singer, leading the rest of the choir with his powerful voice. He was great at teaching the rest of the choir the songs they needed to learn, accompanying on piano, and even took a solo part in one of the songs which was very powerful. He is a talented singer and musician with great ideas and brilliant potential
