Hackney-born Francesca Ter-Berg is a cellist, composer and musical collaborator. She began her musical explorations at the age of 7 studying Western classical music. Growing up in multi-cultural Dalston led her to a degree in Social Anthropology at Sussex University. Anthropology inspired Francesca to travel and learn different styles of music, most notably Klezmer, Transylvanian and Romanian music. Ever since, Francesca has spent many years collecting this music from archives and spent time travelling to study extensively with leading experts such as Tcha Limberger and Alan Bern. She regularly collaborates with violinist Flora Curzon in their folk duo Fran & Flora. "A string duo bound for glory." - Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3's Late Junction Francesca's interest in composing, arranging, improvising and teaching recently led her to complete a Masters in Popular Music at Goldsmiths College. Here she began exploring the world of sound, studio composition and working with live electronics. Francesca is currently working on her first EP, which blends traditional folk, field recordings and electronica. Francesca has collaborated and performed with artists such as Sam Lee, Talvin Singh, Floating Points, Portico, Sophie Solomon, Cosmo Sheldrake, Tanita Tikaram, Roger O’Donnell, Riz Ahmed, Hejira, Katy Carr, Lisa Knapp, Gerry Diver, The Unthanks, Kate Young, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Frank London, London Klezmer Quartet, Soumik Datta, Jyotsna Srikanth, Ahmed Mukhtar, Maverick Sabre and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Her collaborative experience and diverse musical background has led Francesca to be one of the most versatile and in demand session and studio musicians in the UK. Francesca hosts her own radio show on DubLab London, and when not making music focuses on her other passion - food. "Francesca Ter-Berg wonderfully channels so many different stories and styles in her music and cello playing... a sincere and evocative musician with a restless and creative mind who sources her inspiration from the richest of diets” - Sam Lee

"We really enjoyed the workshop with Francesca! Her expertise was invaluable in helping us play better together as an ensemble, and she had lots of great arrangement ideas. In addition her idiomatic knowledge of klezmer gave us fresh insight into playing this style
