Playing what they describe as ‘fun and friendly drum and brass’, Flat Cap Brass provide something a bit different for your special day. Flat Cap Brass can provide the perfect musical accompaniment to keep your guests entertained and dancing all day (and night) long. Made up of seven professional musicians with a wealth of big-name experience, our band members pride themselves on the quality of each and every performance. Our broad repertoire spans from Bruno Mars to Chaka Khan and from Wheatus to S Club 7. Flat Cap Brass play in a wide variety of different styles but the one thing we can promise is that all of our music is recreated in a bold brass sound. Our professional arranger can create a bespoke pop brass version of your chosen first dance / chosen song or perform at the start of our set as a roaming band before taking our positions for your drinks reception to make a statement from the first note we play. Highlights for Flat Cap Brass include opening the main stage at Kendal Calling festival performing their version of ‘Brassic Park’, getting one of Liverpool Sound City festival’s biggest singalongs to ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams, and representing the UK at the Haizetara street music festival near Bilbao. We’ve also performed for countless amazing weddings and a variety of corporate clients, including the BBC, Welcome to Yorkshire, Meadowhall Shopping Centre, UA92 along with food festivals across the North and Cartmel, Beverley, York and Wetherby races. You can also catch us performing in bars – most recently, our performances have included Salt Beer Factory in Shipley along with A Nation of Shopkeepers and The Hop in Leeds whilst also crossing the Pennines to play at PLY and Wilsons Social in Manchester city centre. You can currently catch us every first and third Friday and fourth Saturday in Peaky Blinders bar in Manchester. We’re also regulars at iconic jazz bar Matt and Phreds in Manchester city centre. Wearing their trademark flat caps, Flat Cap Brass are in high demand on home soil and abroad for their distinctive and engaging performances. With undeniable chemistry between the band members, their energy is infectious and guarantees a fun and enjoyable show. Having played countless international events, Flat Cap Brass are comfortable in any setting. Fabulous indoors or out – we won’t disappoint!

We booked flat cap band for our wedding, they were brilliant. If I was to book again I would book directly with the band rather than through encore as they do not communicate well with the band.

We booked Flat Cap Brass to perform at our evening reception and we are so glad we did! The dance floor was full for their entire performance. The set list was full of absolute bangers. If you’re looking for a drum and brass band for your wedding, we couldn’t recommend them more.

‘…the outdoor stage at Constellations proved one of the highlights of Saturday, with a great blend of stylistically varied talent. With festival-goers enjoying the sporadic sun with intermittent clouds, many with a cold drink in hand – for much of the day the stage felt really summery, with great vibes provided as a result of many excellent bands. As the night drew on, and the fire pit was lit, revellers enjoyed a stunning set courtesy of Flat Cap Brass, whose uniquely energetic rhythms left crowds demanding more as their set drew to a close. Truly top performers.’

We were SO excited for FCB to play our wedding and they did not disappoint! They were great throughout the entire booking process, moved our date when our original was cancelled, were patient when we were late and most importantly sounded amazing! The summer terrace vibes were exactly what we wanted and all our guests loved them. Would 100% recommend, going to be on that terrace listening to this tunes in my head forever!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our clients over the past 4 years have loved our big brass style covers of the classic pop songs they've grown up with - played back in a completely different way!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Liverpool Sound City, Kendal Calling and Haizetara festivals Racecourses including Wetherby, York and Cartmel Food festivals including Ilkley, Harrogate and Manchester Corporate clients including Welcome to Yorkshire, BBC, UA92 Bars including Matt and Phreds, Nation of Shopkeepers, Peaky Blinders, PLY, Salt Beer Factory, Wilsons Social Weddings nationwide

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We love anything that gets people enjoying themselves and dancing. Many of our songs are pop covers in a bold brass style from the 70s, 80s, 90s and now.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The most high profile gig was opening the main stage at Kendal Calling festival in 2019, playing our rendition of the Jurassic Park theme tune (dubbed 'Brassic Park'). But we treat each gig as if it as high profile as the next - and many of our favourites have been weddings, corporate events and other great events with great people.

Do you have different line-up options?

We do offer a 5 piece band with one trumpet, one trombone, sax, tuba / sousaphone and drums. We would recommend booking the 7 piece band as in the 5 piece, the sound is sparser and less powerful. However we understand that people have to work within budgets. We can also add extra musicians (e.g. another trumpet, trombone) for an even bigger sound.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We understand that your plans can change and you might want the band to play slightly earlier or later. Just let us know in the run up to your day - this is unlikely to be a problem.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We offer our Flat Cap DJ service which is available at an extra cost. This can range from a playlist you have created on e.g. Spotify that we take responsibility for running on the night, to us being a DJ for the portions of your wedding when we’re not playing.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We prefer to choose our own sets so as to draw on our experience of getting our music to flow correctly and create the best possible atmosphere for your event, but we would encourage you to let us know if there are any particular favourites which we will do our best to accommodate, or any songs you dislike which we will not play.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We can provide lighting for evening events; there may be a small additional cost for this. We can talk about this as we discussing your plans for your wedding. We would recommend lighting if we are playing for your evening reception.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If you would like to have the band play your first dance, we would be happy to do so if it is chosen from our existing song list. If the song isn’t in our existing list, our professional arranger can create a flat cap version for you – this will be at a cost of £150 per song.
