Felicity Latham

Felicity is a freelance flautist, and recent Masters graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music. Now based in London, she is establishing a freelance career in performing and teaching. She enjoys performing as a classical recitalist; and as a chamber musician she has a wide range of interests, playing with Baroque groups and as a jazz flautist with alt-pop band Spang Sisters. Her specialism throughout her studies has been in contemporary music. She has collaborated with many composers and premiered their works. She premiered a new work, 'Myisi', in London's Tete a tete new opera festival in July 2015, and in 2017 founded her own arts venture, Contemporary Cardiff. Having begun playing the flute at the age of 7, Felicity went on to gain an ABRSM Diploma whilst still at school. She then studied Music at the University of Bristol and graduated with a 1st Class BA(Hons) in 2015. Whilst at Bristol, she was appointed Principal Flautist of the Bristol University Symphony Orchestra and of the Bristol Operatic Society for two years, between 2013 and 2015. She also gained solo experience, giving performances at the renowned St. Georges's Concert Hall and Bristol Music Club. During her Masters at RWCMD, Felicity studied the flute with Matthew Featherstone (BBCNOW), Jonathan Burgess (WNO) and Sarah Newbold; and piccolo with Andrew Lane (CBSO). She performed with many of the college orchestras in St David's Hall and the Dora Stoutzker Hall. She also founded the Ibert Quintet with whom she played at venues such as Insole Court.
