TRI the Fiddle & Mandolin: He has been playing the violin for 30 years or so, a full-time musician while living in Indonesia. He can turn his bow to all kinds of different genres - Irish folk, country/bluegrass, jazz and blues as well as original music and improvisation. All of which he uses to inject that extra special twist to his playing in the band - once he gets going it's hard to know when the good stuff is going to end. Influences; Irish fiddler Kevin Burke of the Bothy Band and Patrick Street, the 'Western Swing' style of Bob Wills and jazz rock violin of Jean Luc Ponty. He also teaches violin in Norwich. ALEX the Fiddle, Recorder & Vocals Alex always wanted to be in a ceilidh band and now has her wish - she plays violin, recorders and sometimes sings for the band. When not putting on one-man shows, she does a lot of session work and has opened for the legendary Dave Swarbrick, smash-hits Megson and the IT Boys' UK tour. (The Swarb said she played 'stunning fiddle')!  Her other love is Heavy Metal, but we don't talk about that.   CHRIS the Dance Caller, Guitar & Mandolin After playing in York indie band Pinq Stuff for 5 years in the 1980's headed to Norfolk to play in several bands - the wedding cover band Moonshine, Peter Gold Country Band, Tom Thompson Band and more recently 5 years in a well known Norfolk Ceilidh Band, Whirligig. His hobby is trawling the internet for new dances and tunes. Favourite bands include Bellowhead, Altan, Solas, AfroCeltic Sound System, Imagined Village, Peatbog Fairies, Shooglenifty, Blazin Fiddles, Sharron Shannon...

Yes we can play your playlist through our quality PA from a device between sets. The PA is also available for hire after the set - for example for a disco until midnight using your own playlist. Our lighting is also available.

60 to 90 minutes.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We're happy to include particular dances, for example Strip the Willow. Most people are very happy with our selection of dances - although we have a basic set in mind we tailor this to the needs of the dancers on the night so the event flows nicely, everyone, young & old, gets involved.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We would definitely consider learning a song if we thought we could do a good job. This might entail a small charge for extra rehearsal time.

Chris and his colleagues played an excellent outdoor set at our wedding and encouraged our guests, including many who had never been to a ceilidh to participate. The music was great and the calling was perfect - detailed enough without preventing enjoyment of the dances. We would not hesitate to recommend them for a ceilidh at a wedding.

Terrific, lovely group of people, they really made the party happen ! They managed to get people dancing and singing.... who hadn't done for years ! will definitely re-book when we have another event and recommend to all our friends, most of whom were there for the party and are already big fans.

We want to express our appreciation for the really excellent evening last Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed the music and thought you had selected an excellent variety of dances. The caller did very clear explanations of the various steps and dances. It is clear from our friends' responses and their faces while dancing that they also thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the gentle nudging when we were in muddles.

Gareth, 4 years ago

Chris and the band played at our 10th Wedding Anniversary, a great night was had by all. As we had 20 kids under 6 it was a really great that we started with a few dances which the children could really get into. They even put some of the adults to shame at the later more complex arrangements"  Gareth, Beccles, Norfolk
