Ewan Zuckert studies at the Royal College of Music (RCM) as a Scholar, supported by a Douglas and Hilda Simmonds Award, on the Master in Performance course. Ewan is taught by Richard Hosford, Timothy Lines, Colin Lawson and Michael Collins. Previous study includes graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) with a Bachelor of Music (performance) with Honours of the first class in July 2014. Since moving to London Ewan has had the opportunity to play with the RCM Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He has also played solo in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall and the Elgar Rooms, as well as taking part in numerous recording projects, clarinet days and concerts, with a number of notable London players. Ewan has received lessons from many prominent players including Kari Kriikku, Einar johannesson and Sharon Kam. At the RCS Ewan was taught by John Cushing and Yann Ghiro. On top of his performance career, Ewan is dedicated to teaching and has a wider range of experience doing workshops with many notable organisations including: Wigmore Halls Chamber Tots and Sistema Scotland in a collaboration with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. As a clarinet teacher Ewan teaches a wide range of ages and abilities and caters to each student’s aim and collaborates with the student to customise a plan for their education. Ewan has taught through a number of agencies and schools including Wells Cathedral School and Royal Academy of Music Junior department. Professional experience to date has included playing with the BBC SSO, RSNO, Red Note Ensemble, ‘MacOpera’ wind soloists from the orchestra of Scottish Opera, Scottish Opera and with Dunedin Consort. Ewan would like to thank Sir James Caird’s Travelling Scholarships Trust, The Cross Trust, The Dewar Awards, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust Derek Butler Award, Dewar Awards and the Colin MacLean Trust for supporting him through his Masters’ degree.
