About Ewan

Session Musician based in the south west of England. Lots of studio and live performance experience.
Bass Guitarist
Bath

Hi there! My name is Ewan and I am a Professional session musician based in the south west of England. I have been playing music since I was 9 when I picked up the flute and from there I have progressed through most areas of music, I have played in Orchestras, sung with choirs, played festivals with bands and recorded in studios for other people as a career since 2019. I currently study Commercial Music at university where I am working towards a masters degree to make myself the best I can possibly be at my passion of music. Currently I am primarily a Bass player and this is the service I will be promoting myself for most, however I am also proficient in playing Guitar, Singing and playing the flute. I am able to read music in treble clef and guitar tabs, I am also very skilled at sight reading and learning by ear if sheet music is not available. I am really enthusiastic about playing with more people and assisting others in developing their songs and gaining the sound and vibe they are looking for!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My stage presence is almost always commented on after playing a show, I am really good at making sure a crowd feels the energy in the room and gets into the gig like the musicians do.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Royal Concert Hall - Nottingham Albert Hall - Nottingham Rock City - Nottingham Metronome - Nottingham Moles - Bath Komedia - Bath The Electric Bar - Bath Mr Wolfs - Bristol The Louisiana - Bristol The Crown - Bristol The Exchange - Bristol Old Town Live Festival - Stevenage

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

As a bassist Joe Dart is my hero, I love everything he has been a part of, primarily Vulfpeck, which has lead me to many other artists and bands such as Theo Katzman, Snarky Puppy, Cory Wong and Cody Fry just to name a few.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I have performed at the royal concert hall and the Albert hall in Nottingham multiple times.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We can discuss the time changes and I will try my best to accomodate for it however I cannot guarantee that the change will be 100% possible all the time. Please inform me of any time changes as soon as they occur to allow the maximum time for changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

N/A

How much time do you need to set up?

In a studio setting probably around 20 mins to adjust to the space and find the right sound. Live, I have done sound checks in less than 5 mins but also 30-40 mins, it depends on the requirements, this is something we can discuss in our initial meetings.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

The set list displayed on my page is just to example songs and albums that inspire me, however if your live gig includes covers I am able to play most of the songs on the list, this is something that we can discuss in our initial meetings.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

For a typical gig I will provide my own Bass & Pedal board, I will however need a bass combo amp/head & cab to be provided but most venues should have in-house gear available for usage. This is something we will discuss in out initial meetings.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can if given enough time, I am good at learning by ear and sight reading but I still ask at least 4 days per song you wish for me to learn for your gig, for example if your set has 3 covers in, I ask for 12 days notice minimum on those songs so I can learn them.
