singer (Soprano)
Cardiff

22 year old soprano Erin has just finished her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance under the tuition of Mr Ian Baar, and received a First Class Honours degree. During her studies, Erin won the prestigious Funtington Music Group Robert Headley Music Award, her University’s Tosti Song Competition, and Italian Art Song Competition. Erin was delighted to be selected to become the first ever recipient of the Cooper Hall Emerging Artists Bursary Award, and has now chosen to study a Master of Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for her under the tuition of Gail Pearson. Throughout her Undergraduate degree, Erin has been a much sought after soloist and has performed in venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall, Buxton Opera House, Chichester Cathedral, Arundel Cathedral, Goodwood House and Chichester Assembly Rooms where she was invited at the last minute to stand in for Catherine Bott performing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with William Purefoy. In the last three years Erin has also toured Budapest, Switzerland, Austria, Guernsey, Romania and Rome where she sang in the Vatican. Operatically, Erin has relished the opportunities to study lots of different roles. Most recently, she explored the role of ‘Zerlina’ in Don Giovanni at Cooper Hall under the direction of Assistant Director at Royal Opera House, Greg Eldridge, who described her as “A real spark on stage”. She has also played the roles of ‘Fiordiligi’ in Cosi Fan Tutte at the National Opera Studio, ‘Micaela’ in Carmen and ‘2nd Lady’ in Die Zauberflote for the University of Chichester. She also took part in the chorus of Beethoven’s Fidelio and Verdi’s Aida for Dorset Opera. Classical Music is not the only string to Erin’s bow however, as she has a real passion for Music Theatre. After winning the University of Chichester’s Sondheim Song Competition, she went on to represent the University in London in the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award. She has played ‘Julie Jordan’ in Carousel, ‘Cinderella’ in Into the Woods, ‘Maria VonTrapp’ in The Sound of Music and ‘Christine Daae’ in The Phantom of the Opera. Erin’s voice features on a new recording of Maltby and Shire’s Song Cycle Starting Here, Starting Now which was musically directed and arranged by Julian Kelly. She has also worked alongside Julian on a Music Theatre Revue show, collaborating with Garth Bardsley and students from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music. www.erin-alexander.com www.facebook.com/erinalexandersoprano
