Violinist Emma (Jingmei) Quan graduated fromthe Royal College of Music (RCM) with a bachelor (hons degree), studying with Leonid Kerbel and Gabrielle Lester. After beginning her studies at the age of five, Emma was given a full music scholarship to study at Oxford High School for Girls and was later invited to study at the Purcell School, with support from their Music and Dance Scheme. Emma has won First Prize in competitions such as Abingdon Music Festival and Wontage Music Festival. Emma has presented solo recitals in venues including St Michael and All Angels Church in Oxford, the Constance Pilkington Hall at Purcell School, St. Mary Abbots Church and Corelli Room in RCM and recently in Beaconsfield United Reformed Church. As a chamber musician, Emma has performed a piano quintet at the Wigmore Hall, received training from the Brodsky Quartet as well as a receiving training from the London Haydn Quartet with her string quartet. She also performed in a piano trio in the East Parry Room of the Royal College of Music and recently performed in Queen's College in Oxford performing Beethoven Sonata No.1 Op.12 and Prokofiev Sonata for Two Violins Op.56. Emma has performed regularly as an orchestral player across the UK in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Alexandra Palace, St. James' Piccadilly, Sage Gateshead, West Hall in Cambridge, Goodenough College, Oxford Sheldonian Theatre and Oxford Town Hall, working with conductors such as Paul Daniel, Ainars Rubikis, Peter Stark, Johannes Harneit and Martin André. Outside of College Emma has joined the Ensemble OrQuesta performing Verdi’s Falstaff in Woodhouse Corpse in Dorking in summer of 2015, the Newham Philharmonic Orchestra performing Brahms Symphony No.1 Op.68 in the Barbican Hall, Orchestra Vitae performing in St. John’s Smiths Square in September 2016 and March 2017. As a freelancer, she has performed in wedding performances around England and private events including a private Chinese New Year party for the fashion MCM company. Emma’s most important teachers and mentors include Mark Messenger, Berent Korfker, Antonio Cucchiara, Kathron Sturrock, Lidia Amorelli and Rosemary Joseph. Emma has also attended Aria Summer Music Festival in Mount Holyoke, studying with Renee Jolles, Oleh Krysa, Kirsten Yon and Gregory Fulkerson.
