Emma Mordue

Having had a varied career over the last 20 years Emma could be described as a multidisciplinary artist. Her work spans music and performing arts, as well as visual media. Despite this variety, a love of early music and early modern performance is a common thread throughout. Recent projects have included taking a 16th century travelling player to schools, a mythical musical woodland sprite walkabout to festivals, and musical directing and co-producing an adaptation of The Tailor of Gloucester where she got to also feature as a musical Simpkin the cat. Alongside this are many supper clubs, birthdays, weddings, and hen parties, where the addition of either fantasy or historical entertainment can be a talking point for years to come! Although comfortable solo entertaining, she also plays with The New Cambridge Waits. Waits were musicians hired for civic events, including feasts and parties, parades and services. They can be found playing around the country at just those things - with a sound ranging from loud parade bagpiping, to lively dance leading, and gloriously mellow medieval background music to dine to. Covering a wide variety of historical instruments includng recorders, bagpipes, shawm, rauschpfeife, crumhorns, voice. Other skills include acting, juggling, historical dance both dancing and teaching, first person charactisation, living history specialising in the tudor period, printmaking, glasswork, event management, bespoke event creation. Experience in working with all ages with additional needs, making her work accessible for all. One thing she loves the most is new things, and creating just the right entertainment for your event, drawing on her years experience, and network of professional entertainers.
