Emily has recently gained her Masters with a Merit from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London, specialising in Early Music (Voice). Whilst at Trinity, Emily studied voice with Laureen Livingstone and Timothy Travers-Brown as well as receiving tuition from renowned musicians such as Philip Thorby and Belinda Sykes. She currently studies with Marie Vassiliou.
Previously, Emily had gained her BMus Hons (2:1) from Royal Holloway, University of London, whilst studying singing at the Royal College of Music with Eiddwen Harrhy. Singing since the age of 8, Emily has sung in many choirs including Royal Holloway's Schola Cantorum, Chapel Choir and Chamber Choir, the Hampshire County Children’s Choir, Hampshire County Youth Choir, National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, RSCM’s Millenium Youth Choir, the Ionian Singers, Sonus Cantorum, Trinity's Early Music Vocal Ensemble and Celestial Sirens.
Emily directs and sings in Virtuosa, a female vocal ensemble which she formed as part of her Masters project in order to explore the presentation and representation of female singers from the 16th Century to the modern day. This fascination with early women's music resulted in Emily singing with Celestial Sirens, and, most recently, she is privileged to join Musica Secreta. Emily’s directing experience also includes being selected for the Brighton Early Music Choral Directors Apprenticeship Scheme 2011-2012, directed by Deborah Roberts and John Hancorn.
Emily has extensive teaching experience including both working as a Choral Animateur and Project Director for the Dartford Choral Project, Singing Tutor for Kent Adult Education, Vocal Coach for Pembroke Academy of Music and as a Singing Teacher at Hillview School for Girls. Her most recent post is as Music Specialist at Horn Park Primary School, London.
