Emanuele Marchetti is an Italian drummer/percussionist/cajon player and DJ.
Born in Ancona (Italy), he grew up in a family of artists; his father Doriano, a flute and
saxophone player, professional musician and teacher, orchestra director and song writer
introduced him on the musical environment since he was a kid and thanks to his mother
Elisabetta, a singer and always passionate about music and records, always influenced
him on listening to 70’s and 80’s music.
He started his studies on violin and piano at the private music conservatory of his home
town for his father volition, getting a degree on music theory and solfeggio. After left his
studies cause he was realizing that violin wasn’t his instrument and his true way, he
discovered a passion for a different kind of art: the bboying or break dance.
He started dancing in 1999 and for the next sixteen years he followed the way of the
dance and performances, being also an event organizer on breakdance battles for 4
consecutive years and a dance teacher and choreographer in dance schools for 5 years.
On 2007, moved by the passion for the bboying and the hip hop culture, he starts his
activity as a dj by getting his first pair of turntables and going through the research of
the music and vinyl digging; along with his bboy and dance teacher activity, he’s going to
start spinning gigs and event related to bboying and being part of some of the biggest
International events all over Italy.
As a “BREAK” DJ, based on the research of drums and percussion grooves, he was always
influenced by rhythms on his both dance style and djing style; thanks to these
inspirations he decided to resume his musical studies and approach finally to his
instrument: the drums.
As a self-taught first and then followed by his Italian drums teacher Andrea Morandi,
well renowned session drummer and musician resident on his hometown, he starts his
activity and his way as a drummer studying Jazz, Rudiments and different musical styles
motivated by his teacher, and performing and jamming with function bands in venues
and clubs on his region.
As a session drummer he recorded and arranged for his father songs and other original artists, working along with a bunch of professional musicians.
After received a news about a successful audition to study at the Institute of
Contemporary Music and Performance based in London, he decided to move there to
improve his drummer career.
Under the guidance of the legendary drums teacher Gabor Dornyei, an International
renowned clinician and great session drummer, he’s actually resident in London and he’s
working as a session player, dep musician and drums teacher.
