Ella Englishby is a classically trained cellist, recording artist, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. With a multi-faceted career and experience in a wide range of genres, her passion for musical exploration, artistic expression, and technology are expressed through live performance and visual media. Ella has been playing the cello for over 15 years now. She was the co-leader of the cello section of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland for the last two years and was a member from 2009-2017. As a member, she has experienced playing in some of the biggest venues around the world; the Royal Albert Hall in London, the RDS in Dublin, the SSE Arena in Belfast, the Echo Arena in Liverpool and most notably, the infamous Carnegie Hall in New York City. As a professional cellist, Ella is well versed in working alongside singer-songwriters both in the studio and in a live setting. In the recording studio, she has worked with Monaghan singer, Sandra Clarke, on her album 'The Emperors New Clothes', the internet singing sensations, 'Voices Petite', Dublin-based busker, Maiquel Ely on his debut EP 'On the Way Home' and local Armagh troubadour, Ben Reel on his upcoming album! In a live setting, she has worked with Carrickmacross native, Barry Jay Hughes on a number of different projects. She has also performed with Danny Meegan for the launch of his EP 'The Hard and the Wild,' and Sean Conway for his album launch 'Listen Listen,' alongside Zoe Conway and John McIntyre. More recently, Ella has teamed up with the Dundalk natives, Orwells '84 as a part of their string section. The group performs totally original material and have already performed in some notable venues in the North East including the Turks Head in Dublin, Arcadian Field festival in Bellurgan Park and Whelans. With raving reviews on their first single, Ella is looking forward to seeing what the future holds with the group. Even with all her gigging and recording experience, some of Ella's favorite places to play are at ceremonies and drinks receptions of weddings. From performing at weddings, Ella has had the pleasure to visit some beautiful venues in the North East of Ireland to help couples add that magical finishing touch to their special day. She has performed in places such as the Millhouse in Slane, Darver Castle in Dundalk and Ballymagarvey Village in Meath, among many others. Outside of performing, Ella enjoys arranging music. While currently just a hobby, her Musescore account, where several of her arrangements are public, has over 50,000 views and rising! She is currently working hard to complete her first full orchestral score and have it performed in the next orchestral season.

I had tears in my eyes for at least two of the songs. A beautiful effortless voice and a flawless cellist.

The only word I could use would be flawless! All the wedding guests spent the day raving about them. Beautiful performance and the instruments accompanied each other perfectly! Half the guests were in tears (the good kind).

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always pride myself to ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually can set up in about 30 minutes and always aim to be at your event an hour before the performance.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, absolutely! I bring everything that I need to perform to the best of my ability to make your event the best it can be.
