Caithness Violinist

Residing at the very top of mainland Scotland, I am the UK's most northerly professional wedding violinist! Having played since the age of 8, I was Classically trained through all 8 ABRSM Grades (my first teacher was a member of Nigel Kennedy's chamber orchestra). I now hold the diploma titles 'DipABRSM' and 'ARSM' after my name; I passed the latter with Distinction! A member of the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM), I have full Public Liability Insurance covering up to £10million! I am happy to travel to weddings, and travel expenses will be reflected in all my quotes. Although I was Classically trained, I also play the traditional Scots fiddle music style (I am actually half Scottish!), and I was once a member of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra (SFO), playing at concert venues such as Edinburgh Usher Hall, York Barbican and Aberdeen Concert Hall. I can play any style or genre for weddings, and I have a vast track list full of loads of popular/timeless/well-known numbers! I always take requests from the bride/couple for: the aisle walk, the signing of the register, and the exit music. I perform on an acoustic violin with pick-up band for amplification, and I have my own portable sound system. I play with backing tracks, but can also play solo upon request. The most unusual aisle walk I have performed so far is the anthem to Top Gun Maverick! I take much joy and personal satisfaction in my wedding performances. I also teach my own daughter the violin - and she is now working on ABRSM Grade 7 at the age of just 13!
