Edward Gleeson

I’m Edward Gleeson, a Brisbane-based pianist and Bachelor of Music Performance student at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. I have been playing piano since the age of five, and over the past 14 years, music has grown from a passion into the foundation of my career. As a pianist, I love bringing well-known songs to life in a way that feels personal and engaging. My repertoire spans a wide range of styles, including pop, soul, jazz, blues, funk, rock, R&B, and contemporary music. I particularly enjoy the music of artists such as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Anderson .Paak, Teddy Swims, Queen, Jon Batiste, and Elvis Presley. I also draw on my experience with jazz and blues to bring improvisation and personality into my performances. One of the things I enjoy most about performing solo is the freedom to create a complete musical experience with just the piano. I often incorporate the vocal melody into my arrangements, allowing me to perform the melody, harmony, and accompaniment simultaneously, without needing a vocalist or additional musicians. This versatility makes solo piano an excellent choice for weddings, cocktail hours, dinners, private celebrations, and corporate events. I enjoy adapting my playing to the atmosphere of any event. Whether the occasion calls for something romantic and intimate, relaxed and sophisticated, or upbeat and energetic, I aim to make the music complement the moment rather than simply sit in the background. I am also happy to learn or prepare specific songs when a client has a meaningful request for their event. My formal studies at the Queensland Conservatorium have allowed me to develop as a well-rounded musician, with experience across contemporary performance, jazz, improvisation, ensemble playing, and music production. Outside of my studies, I regularly expand my repertoire, develop my improvisation skills, and arrange songs for solo piano. For me, performing is ultimately about connecting with people through music. Whether I am playing a song everyone knows and loves or creating something spontaneous through improvisation, I want audiences to feel that the music is part of the occasion. I’m excited to continue building my career as a pianist and to bring live music to weddings, private events, corporate functions, and celebrations throughout Brisbane and beyond.
