Duo Nostalgias

We are a duo from Leeds performing a variety of styles from South America and Europe with a particular focus on vintage Aesthetic. The band is comprised of Valentina Paz González Diaz and Barney Tabor. Valentina is a classically trained Opera singer originating from Chile who has performed all over the world from Dubai to Paris. She performs in many different styles and languages. Not only is she an incredibly gifted singer but her opera background has made her a highly charismatic and passionate performer. Barney is an accordionist and pianist who trained classically on piano and has a background in many different world music styles including Tango, klezmer, Italian, French and Eastern European folk music. He has played at festivals including Latitude as well as performing on BBC documentary with one of his bands. Both Valentina and Barney have over ten years of performing experience having played at all sorts of venues, festivals, concerts and events to many people across the world. They formed Duo Nostalgias in late 2021 with a shared passion for tango music and vintage songs and have quickly constructed a repertoire of music they both love taking particular influence from performers such as Carlos Gardel, Edith Piaf, Libertad Lemarque, Jacques Brel and Ella Fitzgerald. Despite having a clear vision of the Aesthetic they wish to bring to their performances, Duo Nostalgias are highly adaptable to the individual clients needs. They have a large repertoire meaning that if necessary they could play a whole set of French, Italian or south American set or a mixture of all three and more! They can also cover styles such as prohibition era 20's swing and blue music. As highly experienced musicians, Duo Nostalgias know how to tailor a set to your needs and we are just as happy doing an exciting dance set as we are doing a nice background one whilst people eat.
