Singing pianist
London

Aleksandar Maundrell (Artiste name : Duke Alexander) is a young and versatile musician that has been, for the last few years, gaining reputation within the music community. Born in Switzerland, he started his music and piano studies at the Geneva Conservatoire and gave his soloist debut, in 2005, with orchestra at age 15. In 2006 Aleksandar also won 1st Prize in the << Mozart >> Competition of The Geneva Conservatoires and later that year formed the Trio Xalis in order to perform in the Swiss Youth Music Competition in 2007 where they won 1st Prize and the SUISA Music Foundation Prize. This lead to different concerts on radio and television in Germany and Switzerland. Aleksandar then moved to London where he graduated from the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. During that time he taught in a number of workshops and privately. Collaborating with many different musicians throughout the years has led Aleksandar to perform in well known venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Jagz Ascott, BBC Radio1 and The National Portrait Gallery as well as overseas. Aside from his involvement as a pianist, Aleksandar is also a singer and a composer. Back in 2010 he was asked to play his own Variations on the Theme ‘Cé Qu’è L’ainô’ – the Geneva anthem – in front of the Geneva Grand Council where it was received with success. Aleksandar is currently dividing his time between teaching privately and being in high demand as a virtuoso pianist and vocalist performing on major cruise lines, luxurious hotels and piano bars across London.

Had a wonderful 2 weeks listening to this guy playing fantastic piano, singing and impromptu jamming sessions late evening on board The Black Watch (Fred Olsen). Thank you Duke you made a huge contribution to the enjoyment of our holiday. And thanks for sharing your photos of the Northern Lights which were alot better than mine ! Enjoy what life brings you next - I’ll look out for any gigs you do up North! ❤️🎹

In January 2018 my husband and I spent 2 weeks at the Sensatori resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. On the second evening, we made our way to the Piano Bar, where Duke had just started his set. We were hooked within minutes! We are regular Sensatori visitors at various locations, but I can honestly say we have never ended up visiting the same lounge night after night for the whole holiday just for the artist! Duke has a fantastic repertoire, and a warm and welcoming personality. His vocal range is fantastic and he varied the songs every night, catering to all ages and doing requests. Teaming up with the guitarist in many occasions, they harmonised beautifully. Duke chatted to guests during breaks and at the end of the evening which was lovely. He also performed on the main stage on a lot of evenings, as a ‘warm up’ for the stage show, and again the performances were fabulous! He’s the kind of guy who makes you feel as though he is singing every track just for you! We stayed in touch after our holiday and we were so enamoured with Duke that we fully intend finding him again when current restrictions ease, and will travel to see him perform live again. My husband and I can’t praise this young man enough. I took a few videos of his performances and watch them often.
