Dror schweid was born in Jerusalem in March 1991. He played piano since the age of 11. At the following year he started to learn the the Jerusalem Music Academy high school with his first serious piano teacher, Dr. Itzak Kosov. Beside his piano studies Dror studied composition for 3 years with Dr. Irena Svetova. He served as an Exceptional Musician in the IDF for three years, where he also played for trainee officers and combat soldiers. Following his army service he continued studying piano first with Dr. Asaf Zohar and than with prof Michael Bogoslavsky at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, receiving a 100% for his BMus graduating recitals. He has performed with 3 different orchestras that he managed to organize by himself, twice as a soloist and once as a conductor even though he never studied conducting orderly. In addition, together with the Jazz pianist Yoel Shemesh he opend "24 Hours Pianos" festival at the Jerusalem theater with a show he initiated by himself- combining classical and jazz styles on one piano played by two pianist at the same time. He has also given public solo performances throughout Israel and Germany. Dror has been privileged in recent years to have had masterclasses with: Ian Fountain, Jeremy Menuhin, Prof. Eitan Globerson, Sonia Rubinsky, Ilana Vered and Noam Sivan, among many other distinguished piano teachers. He attended few summer music festivals some of them on full scholarships. Amongst them are Tel Hai International Piano Masterclasses (2010, 2011) and"Jazz For Classical Pianists" (2012,2013). Since 2012 His studies have been generously supported by scholarships from the American Israel Cultural Fund (AICF). The AICF has helped with essential funding towards Dror’s degree and summer festivals. On September 2014 he flied to travel in the east and spent 6 month in Nepal and India. At the moment he lives in berlin and studying jazz piano with Dr. Ittai Rosenbaum.
