A Doctor in Musicology and Performance from the University of Leeds, I have been playing for 35 years, 25 of which have been professionally. I've played with major celebrities, such as Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, as well as Nicola Bernedetti. I played Jazz in New York with Gordon McNeil and in Scotland with the Vintage Girls at the Aberdeen Jazz Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. Whether you're looking for a beautiful classic to walk you down the aisle, smooth Jazz for a drinks reception or corporate event, or an Ibiza party to dance the night away, I bring a professional elegance to every event. I also play in bands and can provide up to a 9 piece band that perform Jazz standards, pop classics or sultry soul. Prices on request for the band. As a multi instrumentalist you can pick exactly what you need for the perfect soundtrack to your day. A floating, spiritual flute melody to walk you down the aisle, followed by light hearted Jazz or pop for your guests to enjoy along with a few cocktails before getting the party started with banging floor fillers that will have your evening guests taking to the floor to dance along with me.

I booked Dr Sax for my husband s 60th, party. I asked her to surprise him, she played his favourite tune to begin with, and a great mixture during, the dance floor was busy, everyone loved it. Finished off with an Elvis tune which brought some of the family to tears. Would definitely recommend Dr. Sax

We hired Dan for my son’s 21st party and what can I say. Such a lovely person and Dan put on an incredible, professional and most enjoyable performance. We left Dan to decide on the playlist with a mixture of songs being played that everyone from the youngsters to the oldies in our family and friends enjoyed. I would highly recommend Dan and would hire again. Thank you for making it a great night x

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I know things dont always go yo plan! I will make all efforts to fit in with your new timings unless I have other bookings on the same day. But I do avoid that as much as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

It usually takes about 30 mins to set up, depending on if I am using my own sound system, or a DJ/sound system provided by the venue.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely. I am very flexible and am happy to add your requests to the set list. So if it isn't on my list, don't panic! I will have it ready for you on your big day.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I will bring a PA and sound system, but no lighting.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in my song list there may still be a chance I already know it. If there is a special song you'd like me to learn I am happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
