Diane Merson-Jones

Having held principal positions with the Scottish Opera Orchestra and the Scottish Ballet orchestra, Diane has also worked regularly as a freelance violinist with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. She also leads freelance chamber groups and orchestras for Classical Musicians Scotland and Paisley Abbey. Travelling to Denmark to play, and occasionally lead, the Randers Chamber Orchestra has become a regular feature in Diane's work diary in the past few years. Chamber music is a particular love of Diane's and she has enjoyed leading The Trossachs Quartet for many years. More recently she has joined folk band Hingin' By A Threed and is experiencing a different genre of music which is great fun. Diane has played solo violin for weddings and funerals, and has also been soloist and guest leader with the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra.
