Professional, versatile, variety musical entertainer with over 30 years experience in shows, cabaret, functions and more!

I began playing trumpet and cornet in the Scots Guards Band in the 70s and then worked as a freelance musician throughout the country and abroad. My career as a trumpeter has covered most styles of music with Wedding Ceremonies and Services being a special favourite of mine. In 1981 I formed my own band, The Nikki Rhys Set, which played shows, functions and Holiday Parks up to 1988 when my cabaret Act, Nikki 'n' Diz become popular. We performed all over the world and especially on the Viking Line and at major London Hotels. In 1994 I developed my solo act, Dennis Frere-Smith, adding a multi-instrumental element and more fun and audience participation. I pride myself in being able to draw on years of experience playing many different genres of music and having worked with top artistes and shows such as, Bruce Forsyth, Roy Castle, Jim Davidson, Dancing Years and The Dance Band Days. I am currently working as a professional in all areas of the industry using my name, Dennis Frere-Smith.

Dennis has performed at The Mayfields on a number of occasions. He brings smiles to the residents' faces, and encourages them to take part with his instruments, and even gets them dancing. He sings a wide variety of songs to suit all ages and we enjoy having him back again and again.
