Darrel did an amazing job performing for our wedding. He played a good mix of songs and provided the perfect accompaniment to our drinks reception and breakfast. We're so glad we opted to have him playing at our wedding! He was professional, well dressed and very charming, I will definitely be recommending him to our friends when they get married!

Darrel played his jazz set at our Winterfest event. It was a really lovely evening and I'm sure everyone in the audience enjoyed his performance as I noticed that the crowd went quiet as he played. He received a very enthusiastic response at the end! I'm sorry I couldn't give him more time (for an encore), but he definitely left the crowd eager for more.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My clients love my renditions of popular jazz songs. They always comment on how beautiful my guitar playing sounds and often pick out a favourite song from my set. I sometimes get compliments about my guitar playing sounding like more than one guitar, but I assure you there is only one of me!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Other than weddings and festivals, I have performed at town halls and theatres including The Headgate Theatre in Colchester and The Woolwich Grand Theatre.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

As far as guitarists go, my main influences include Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Lenny Breau but I am also influenced by piano players such as Barry Harris, Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner. In my guitar playing I also find myself influenced by saxophone players such as Charlie Parker and singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The highest profile gig I have ever performed was supporting Omar Lye-Fook in Brixton which was back in 2014. It was great being able to perform before such an amazing singer and a voice which I grew up listening to.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try to be as flexible as I can so if timings or arrangements change in the lead up to the event, just let me know as soon as you can and I will try my best to accommodate any changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

This is not something I offer currently but definitely something I can look into providing in the future!

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually only need around 15-30 minutes to set up my guitar and amp, but I always try to allow an hour so I'm ready well ahead of performance time.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes, of course. If you let me know ahead of time that would be absolutely no problem. If there are any specific song requests you have, you can also get in touch with me before the event and we can discuss their inclusion in my performance to make the event extra special.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, of course! The equipment I need is usually just one guitar, one spare guitar and an amplifier. All I would need from the venue is a single plug socket!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If there is a specific song you would like me to learn for the performance, then let me know and we can discuss it. I'm more than happy to help make the event perfect for you by including a song you absolutely love. I charge a fee of £30 for this to take into account learning and arranging the piece of music.
