About Daniel

Daniel Lloyd's profile picture
Pianist
Bristol
Melodic and rhythmical solo piano music to surprise and delight. A 'mix tape' variety of composers - classics to modern.

I've played the piano since before I can remember. I have a performers diploma (LRSM) and a film composer MA (Bournemouth). I am the principal pianist of the Goya Ensemble playing in a variety of small-group genres as well as solo (please see repertoire listing). I also like accompanying - soloists and choirs (Portishead Choral Society). I sometimes compose - songs mostly - and I teach (piano, songwriting and theory).

Daniel Lloyd is a warm, modest and relaxed performer. He has a light touch and visibly delights in bringing his pieces alive for his audience. The two concerts I attended featured several famous piano works which he made sound fresh and vivid. Particularly of note is his way of quickly moving from one piece to another, avoiding applause to maintain focus and vary the mood.

Daniel plays with great sensitivity and expression. He clearly loves playing the piano and this along with his highly accomplished technique makes for a truly wonderful performance. His skills extend to being able to learn complex pieces at short notice, as at this recent concert when he was standing in for someone who was unable to play. He is both passionate and knowledgable about music and his enthusiasm is contagious. I highly recommend Daniel as a pianist.
