Dan Gribbin

Dan specialises in pop, jazz, theatre and classical music genres, performing at 100+ events across the UK and abroad each year. Having graduated with a first class degree in music performance from the Royal Northern College of Music and The University of Manchester, he is now most often found playing chilled background music and/or upbeat party sax across a huge range of events, including weddings, corporate events, festivals, and private celebrations. Known for his musical flexibility, Dan is popular on the wedding scene as a performer who provides a special personal touch during ceremonies, drinks receptions and first dances, whilst also being able to bring the party on the dancefloor later on. Dan always loves to hear of song/genre requests which might be special to the client. As an excellent sight-reader and improviser, he currently performs in various shows including Totally Tina UK, and performs with various horn sections, big bands and orchestras across the UK and abroad. As a session musician, Dan has recorded with artists including Christian Madden, Joe Keegan, The Videogame Orchestra, Sean Rogan and the Country Classical Orchestra. Recent performance highlights include multiple appearances live on BBC Radio, performing at the Buckle and Boots Country Festival, the In-Focus series at The Wigmore Hall, multiple shows at Band on the Wall, and appearing as a featured soloist with Wyatt Sinfonia. Theatre work includes The James Bond Musical Spectacular, Think Floyd, Sham Fender, The Dire Streets. With a dynamic presence on the Sax/DJ scene, Dan regularly performs at events alongside DJs such as DJ Robert Burian, Manchild and DesiJockeys, impressing audiences at The Victoria Warehouse amongst other large venues. Dan has enjoyed performing in ski resorts, theatres and hotels across the UK, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France and the Canary Islands, playing many genres from ibiza sunset vibes alongside singers to Bollywood hits with sax, drums and dancers! As an ensemble musician, Dan is a founding member of the Spark Duo, Arcus Saxophone Quartet and Spectrum Saxes. He relishes the opportunity these groups provide to nurture a diverse musical palate which bridges the gap between the classical and jazz worlds. Dan works as a session musician recordingp soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones from his home studio, and often sings backing vocals within a range of genres. He releases original music in the CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) genres and also plays AKAI and Roland Electronic Wind Instruments (EWI). For events, Dan often works alongside various DJs, but can also be fully self-contained with a flexible setup for fully wireless and battery powered music systems, as well as professional PA speakers for louder/larger events. All equipment is PAT safety tested (which many venues require) and Dan holds PLI Insurance with the Musician's Union. With Grade 8 qualifications in saxophone, drum kit, singing and acting, Dan delivers private instrument tuition to students of all abilities in a friendly and positively challenging environment, both at home in Manchester and online.
