About Damo And The Dynamites

Damo And The Dynamites is a classic 1950s rock'n'roll and rockabilly outfit.
Rock n roll band
Harrow
Public liability insurance of £1 million

Damo And The Dynamites is a rock'n'roll outfit playing a great assortment of classic dance music from the 1950s and 60s plus more recent revival stuff from the 1970s and 80s, and a sprinkling of original songs. Formed in 2018, we have played hundreds of gigs in pubs, clubs, at open-air festivals and at private functions - we are highly experienced at playing both indoors and out, at sensible volumes. As a 3-piece we take up a surprisingly small space and we can play in pretty much any room. We perform with our stage amps being fed through a high quality PA system to maintain tight control of volume (at any level the client wants); to ensure perfect balance and a good sound in the room, we bring our own sound engineer to every gig. Live video and audio recordings on our pages are taken directly from our live performances and are not 'doctored' in any way. We are a period-correct 1950s act. We deliberately avoid showreels and exceedingly glossy video work. What you see in our live videos is exactly what happens at our live gigs, filmed on 4 or 5 separate mini cameras and mixed in a DAW. No studio work has been involved at any stage. We are keen to show potential clients what we really look and sound like while on stage in front of a real audience. We are based in Harrow, NW London, but are happy to travel as far as the right gig takes us.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The sheer amount of energy the band radiates. You can't stop yourself joining in the dancing, and you don't need to be a jiver to hit the dance floor and have fun.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Pubs, members clubs, RBL clubs, open air festivals and events. Private parties, usually organised at venues suitable for live music.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Frontman Damon Everett: "I started by listening to Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry and the others. The Stray Cats and the rockabilly revival came along at exactly the right moment for me, and Brian Setzer must be the biggest single influence on my guitar playing."

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

There have been a few amazing ones. Those we enjoyed the most were probably Aylesbury Live In The Park and our performances on two successive years at Classics On The Crick in Naphill, Bucks.

Do you have different line-up options?

No - we use the classic three-piece rock 'n' roll and rockabilly line-up: a box guitar and a double bass with drums driving them on.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We try to be flexible whenever required. However any changes should not affect other work we may have booked (if applicable) nor should changes create the need to stay the night as opposed to being able to drive home at the end of the event.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We always provide appropriate 1950s recorded music on the PA 30 mins before the gig and during breaks. Longer MP3 music sessions can be arranged on request but may incur a small surcharge, especially if they increase the time we have to spend at the venue beyond our normal setup and breakdown times.

How much time do you need to set up?

1.5 hours to set up; 1 to 1.5 hours to break down

Can you roam around while you perform?

We have limited freedom to move while performing, but this does not imply a "roaming" capability.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, but within limits. New material can also be introduced if required, but again within limits. We are happy to organise our setlist to favour either rock 'n' roll or rockabilly, should the client or the audience have a clear preference for either. (In general we offer a mixture with preference given to the best known rock 'n' roll hits.)

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes: PA, backline, sound engineer with wireless tablet, stage lights

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes but they have to be in the same genre and fit with the rest of the repertoire. You can't ask us for, say, Pink Floyd or Ed Sheeran - we are a 1950s rock 'n' roll/rockabilly band. We need a minimum of two weeks notice so we can learn and rehearse the requested song(s) properly.
