DJ Kidface, or Duncan is a DJ who, above everything else, brings huge amounts of fun to his DJ sets and your party. Duncan has been performing to crowds for over 15 years, from private parties, weddings, club, and festival sets. Aside from being a DJ, Duncan is also a pro trumpet player and brings his two passions together in his DJ sets, jamming and improvising trumpet lines over the top of a wide range of music. DJ Kidface played at our wedding. We had a call beforehand to chat through our music taste as we really didn’t want your typical cheesy wedding DJ. He really stuck to this on the night, playing a range of house, Motown, 90s and indie. We asked for no cheese to be played and thankfully, no cheese we played! Our wedding guests loved it and have since commented on how good the music was. The trumpet was a great addition.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I think the biggest thing clients always note is fun! I am not a DJ who will sit down behind the decks, I want to be part of the party! I absolutely love DJing and getting my clients and their guests to have the best time, I think that really comes across in my DJ sets

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have been working in the music industry for nearly 20 years and have been fortunate enough to perform across the country and beyond. From spectacular venues such as the Royal Albert Hall to festivals such as Leeds or Kendal Calling or some stranger but really cool places like half way up a mountain in the middle of nowhere in Wales for Redbull Racing

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I've been lucky enough to work with some amazing artists and producers such as Martyn Ware (Heaven 17) and Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). They have really shaped the way I think musically. More recently I've worked with Russ Small (Phats and Small) on some amazingly fun disco house projects. I am always on the look out for new music too!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Such a hard question to answer! Potentially DJing for Porsche for their Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup end of season awards gala at the incredible Ascot Racecourse. There was so much glitz and glamour, so many super cars on show and we had one hell of a party too! All the winning drivers and their teams really let it all out!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Not a problem. I'm all about clear communication with all of my clients. If you need to alter something about your event, just let me know and I can do my best to accommodate what you need.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I offer the use of my PA to play your iPod/playlist during a wedding breakfast for example

How much time do you need to set up?

I always arrive an hour before I am due to start DJing. This gives me plenty of time to load in and set up. I also offer early set ups for events where it may not be possible to set up just before performing.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely! It's so important for me that you hear the music you love for your event. In the weeks running up to your event I will work with you to craft the perfect playlist with as much input from you as you like.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I bring everything I need to bring the party to your event. I have my own PA system, DJ booth, lighting, basically everything we will need!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If you would like any specific song or for me to add trumpet to something in particular, just let me know!
