We create a sound and groove that people love to dance to with Dan James on Mandocello creating superb danceable rhythms and myself on Violin playing the loverly traditional and occasional not so traditional melodies from Ireland , wales , Scotland and America . We are fortunate to have Ned Clamp as our caller . Ned is regarded as one of the best callers in the country with many years of experience . We absolutely loved having the Crannog Ceilidh Band play at our wedding! They did an absolutely fantastic job. Very friendly and professional, good communication before the big day. They played music for the wedding ceremony, drinks reception and finally the Ceilidh itself which was lovely. And Di as the caller handled the loud and rowdy crowd really well, every song that me and Ellie danced to was so much fun. We have a bunch of friends who had never heard of a Ceilidh before and now want to have one at their future weddings as well! Thank you again Di, Al and Dan!

Fantastic! Book this band if you want top quality live music with an engaging and enthusiastic caller, friendly people who genuinely cared for things like our china in case they broke it, professional, punctual... Crannog were fantastic! They came in at the last minute when our first wedding band cancelled. It was pretty stressful at the time but turns out it was a blessing in disguise. They got everyone up and dancing, great music, great directions from Di their caller. We had an absolute blast! We would highly recommend them.

Anyway thank you so much for a great gig last night. You have a unique ablility to meld band and audience, creating a sense of us all being part of one big family event. You also seem to cast serenity and humour at the same time. Perfect!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our obvious joy and rapport with our audience! We love what we do and it is our mission to provide a great night of dancing and fun!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We are Wedding Ceilidh specialists so ....... lots and lots of fabulous hotels, village halls, country houses, music venues, private houses, etc.. At Festivals large and small. On hay wagons; in marques and tipees in fields and gardens ........

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Well that's a long story.....there are many!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

As a ceilidh band we have landed a regular spot at the prestigious Ruff Ceilidhs at Cardiff University Hospital! As individuals I guess its the big festivals - Sidmouth, Towersey, Hay on Wye and more. Di also provided music and musicians at Warwick Castle for 8 years.

Can you perform covers?

Yes, we can do covers of traditional and popular folk songs. Dan is our vocalist and is an accomplished folk singer and Crannog also work with a talented female singer too. Requests are welcomed.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our usual line up for a ceilidh is 2 musicians and a "Caller" - fiddle, guitar/mandocello and Caller. We offer a duo of fiddle, mandocello and vocals, or a trio of fiddle, mandocello cello/guitar - great for themed events, traditional background music or concerts where ceilidh dancing is not required.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We are always happy to discuss changes in timings running up to your event. We take a flexible attitude once we are playing and will discuss with you any minor changes as they might occur.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We offer the use of our PA equipment for a playlist of your choice on iPad, iPhone and laptop etc., played under the supervision of our sound engineer, for up to 90 minutes immediately following the ceilidh. The fee for this service is £185.

How much time do you need to set up?

It only takes about 30-40 minutes to set up, however, we like to start the process about 90 minutes before the agreed start time so that we can soundcheck in good time.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We have a comprehensive list of folk songs and tunes that Dan and Al perform and you are welcome to pick and request the ones you would like. If you don't see the piece you would like please ask as they may well be able to learn it for you!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Yes, our quote is fully inclusive with no hidden extras. The PA is looked after by our fiddle player who is also a professional sound engineer so you can rest assured that the sound quality will be excellent!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Our mandocello player is also a talented vocalist and is happy to take requests. If the song is on the list we do not charge for this but if Dan is required to learn a new song there may be a small fee to cover the extra learning and rehearsal time.
