The Cover Culprits are Yorkshire’s number one high-energy indie and punk wedding and party band, bringing the atmosphere of a real gig to your big night. If you love huge indie anthems and a dancefloor that doesn’t stop moving, you’re in the right place. Based near York and gigging across Yorkshire and beyond, Cover Culprits specialise in delivering the songs people actually want to hear. From the raw attitude of classic punk through to the indie rock anthems that have filled clubs and festivals for decades, the band’s setlist is packed with crowd favourites that get voices raised and drinks in the air. When you book the Cover Culprits, you’re not just hiring a band. You’re bringing the buzz and excitement of a proper indie rock night directly into your event. Weddings and private parties become something bigger — a shared experience where the crowd and the band feed off each other and the whole room comes alive. The band’s repertoire spans more than half a century of indie rock and punk, featuring artists such as Arctic Monkeys, The Clash, Buzzcocks, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Kasabian, Green Day, The Libertines, Pulp, Blur and many more. These are the songs people know, love and shout back at the top of their lungs — the kind of tracks that turn a good night into an unforgettable one. What sets the Cover Culprits apart is their commitment to playing everything live, with real musicianship and genuine energy. There are no backing tracks, tablets or music stands — just a tight, experienced band delivering high-octane performances with swagger and confidence. The result is a sound that feels authentic, powerful and completely alive in the room. The band is fully self-contained and professionally equipped, bringing their own PA system, lighting and sound engineering to ensure everything runs smoothly on the night. With a professional approach to every event and years of experience performing across pubs, clubs, festivals and private functions, you can relax knowing your entertainment is in safe hands. Typical bookings include two lively sets packed with indie and punk anthems, but the band is flexible and happy to tailor the performance to suit your event. Whether it’s a wedding reception, a big birthday party, a corporate event or a packed bar on a Saturday night, the goal is always the same: fill the dancefloor and create a night people will still be talking about weeks later. Cover Culprits regularly perform throughout York, Leeds, Harrogate and North Yorkshire, and are happy to travel further afield when the occasion calls for it. If your idea of a perfect night involves big songs, loud guitars and a room full of people singing along together, then Cover Culprits are the band for you. Because when the anthems kick in and the dancefloor fills up, it stops being just another event — and starts feeling like a gig to remember.

We had the Cover Culprits for our wedding reception after seeing them play at a festival, and they were absolutely fantastic. The dancefloor was packed all night and we had so many of our friends say how brilliant they were. We love our indie rock and the songs went down a treat. They were also really friendly, professional and easy to deal with in the lead up to the day. We couldn’t have asked for a better band for our wedding. Thank you, highly recommended!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The energy and the atmosphere. We don’t just play songs – we create a proper gig vibe where the dancefloor fills up and people end up singing along at the top of their lungs.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We’ve performed everywhere from Bradford Playhouse and York Racecourse to weddings at The Hospitium in York Museum Gardens (a historic listed venue). We’ve played vineyards, festivals and countless pubs, clubs, bars, parks and farmer's fields, for everything from initimate private gatherings, up to crowds in excess of 5,000 people.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes! What you see is what you get. The singer in our videos is the same one you’ll see performing live at your event.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, we can perform as a three-piece if needed, but the full four-piece lineup is where the real Cover Culprits energy comes alive. That’s the full indie-rock Armageddon that you see in our videos.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem at all. Minor timing changes are usually absolutely fine. Just let us know as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We offer an iPod service in the short break between our sets, playing recorded music to keep your guests dancing, We offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually need around an hour to set up and soundcheck. We’ll always work with your venue or organiser to make sure we fit smoothly into the flow of the event.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from nearly a thousand performances, and we have learned what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes. Our quote includes all the equipment we need, including PA system and stage lighting, even smoke. We arrive fully self-contained and ready to go, t make your event unmissable.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we may be able do this for you, though it could incur a small additional fee.
