Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
Our clients tend to mention their appreciation of how we accommodated their requests. That includes solo performances of pieces for violin or cello alongside our usual setlist, as well as any song or piece requests they may have. These have included 'You've Got the Love' for a wedding, and Bach's Double Violin Concerto for a last-minute birthday party.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
We have performed at the Dickens Inn as a duo, as well as at a house near Richmond Park. We have also performed in many exciting venues, including the Merchant Taylor's Hall in York, Crathorne Hall Hotel, York Minster and Westminster Abbey.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
We particularly love baroque music, including J.S. Bach and Handel, but any chamber music is of interest to us, especially if we are playing together! We have worked with numerous quartets before, including the Bingham String Quartet and the Consone String Quartet, and so they have proved to be sources of inspiration in our own playing.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
A wedding reception for the former organist of Westminster Abbey in the Abbey's College Garden.
Do you have different line-up options?
We are a string duo (violin/viola, cello), but have a wide network of musicians from which to draw, which can allow us to expand the group to larger sizes - predominantly to a string trio or quartet, but further expansion is not out of the question.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
We will try to be as flexible as we can to ensure that your event runs smoothly. If timings do change, do let us know and we will do our best to accommodate the changes: this is of course more manageable the further in advance of the event we are informed, but we will always do what we can to ensure a full group even if timings change late in the day.
How much time do you need to set up?
We usually set up around half an hour to an hour before the event start time.
Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?
Yes! If there are any particular pieces which take your fancy, we would be delighted to include them in our selection for your event. Equally, if there is anything you want which is not in our list, we will do our best to accommodate this request provided we have enough time to arrange this.
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
We bring everything except a chair!
Can you learn specific pieces before the event?
If you want something which is not in our setlist, we may be able to buy/arrange it regardless. Arranging may incur an extra fee, depending on the amount of work required, while we can also purchase existing arrangements, which we will check you are happy with, purchase, and then invoice for the cost of the music.
