Conor Stevens BA (Hons) has been playing the guitar for 16 years and saxophone for 7, graduating from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Music. Having taught for 5 years, Conor is a qualified and experienced instrumental and music theory tutor, teaching both private and music service lessons, with a 100% student exam pass rate. Conor is DBS checked and is comfortable teaching all ages and levels; previous students ageing from 5 to adulthood. As a performer, Conor has played the saxophone in orchestras, concert bands, jazz bands and quartets. Guitar, in rock, jazz and theatre pit bands with performance credits including Jesus Christ Superstar, R.E.N.T, Bare: A Pop Opera, 9 To 5, The Wizard of Oz (Saxophone) and Knowledge By Degrees: The Musical (Saxophone and Bass). Currently, Conor is the bassist in Liverpool Indie trio Husband Material and has previously performed with L/Zard (Liverpool) and Our Divinity (Liverpool). Plus occasional appearances with Besses O’ Th’ Barn Brass Band at concerts and competitions playing timpani and percussion. Conor also enjoys composing, arranging and orchestrating for a range of instruments and styles, with influence from Stravinsky, Zappa, Sondheim and Reich. Musical Directing also interests Conor having previously directed a big band and percussion ensemble, with aspirations to direct musical theatre and conduct.
