Connor is a London-based classical, jazz and commercial trumpeter. He is currently studying a trumpet performance degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance and is a regular player with Thames Brass ensemble and The Lucky Andersons indie band. He is kept busy with shows, recording sessions and function events across the country and abroad.
Connor recently returned from the Cork Jazz Festival where he was playing with the UK’s number one Commitments Tribute Band – The Committed, playing six sold out shows at venues including the main stage at the Metropole. Continuing from the success of this tour he was performing at the London Jazz Festival with Trinity Laban playing a new commission from Mark Lockheart and other renowned jazz musicians from the UK.
Other performances have included “Merrily We Roll Along” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the “Let’s Hang On” touring show. As a member of Aveley & Newham Brass Band they came third in the 2016 National Brass Band Championships. Connor has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of big bands including the Mick Collins, Mimika Jazz Orchestra, Ben Beddoes, and the Swinging Punks as well as the London Shostakovich Orchestra and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra.
Connor’s musical career starting with the piano and he was encouraged to take up a second instrument by his tutor. He joined the Merton Music Foundation and worked his way through the groups to become lead trumpet with their Jazz Orchestra and Concert Band, enjoying performances at Wimbledon Tennis, the Hideway and The Royal Albert Hall as well as several tours in Europe. He was a member of the Under 12’s & 13’s National Children’s Orchestra and was part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations at Birmingham Symphony Hall. Connor went on to be awarded a scholarship at Trinity Laban and continues to be a large part of their ensembles and projects.
