Claire Gilchrist

I am a singer/songwriter/percussionist now based in Devizes, Wiltshire. I grew up in Dorset. My village was Broadwindsor and was only six miles away from the Jurassic coast - West Bay/Bridport. My education was at Beaminster Comp. Dorset. My music teacher was Steve Knightly (now 'Show of Hands') and PJ Harvey was a 6th former when I was a 1st year. Watching her sing and play guitar at my very first 'big school' assembly ignited my intrigue and enthusiasm for live music. Fast forward five/six years and I dropped out of Sixth Form and A-Levels to join my first band... This was called 'Mojo Spirit' and I cut my musical and live performance teeth during my 9 months as a member. I then moved onto a semi-pro band called 'This Is It'. I was backing vocals and occasional lead. I worked prolifically for 12 months with this act. I then decided to move on to performing solo, under the stage name of 'Page Morgan'. I won the biggest non-televised talent competition of the time, 'Stairway to the Stars' and won fulsome praise from head judge, Nina Myscow. This opened doors.
