About Christopher

Accomplished pianist, singer and composer of many musical genres from Classical, Jazz, Boogie Woogie, pop to sing along old pub standards.

I started playing the piano at the age of 6 studying Classical piano with Paul Johns for 10 years, culminating in an appearance at the Chester Music Festival performing the 1st movement of Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata and began experimenting with music at the age of 13. My compositions still comprise a large part of my repertoire, covering all genres and styles of music. I am particularly renowned for my own rendition of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells and for playing Boogie Woogie. I have played the piano at a number of locations throughout the world, including Switzerland, Bolivia, Ecuador, The French riviera, the US and notably the Half Moon in Putney, London for the American singer song writer Sierra Hurtt. I was resident pianist at the Royal Hotel Llangollen, at the The Walls Restaurant in Oswestry, played at the Jazz Train (2013) and The Blues Train (2014) for the Llangollen Fringe Festival and recently played at the International Music Eistedfodd in Llangollen (2016 & 2017). I have performed with several local music groups, including Rain and Rough Diamond rock bands, Los Chicos salsa band, The Charlie Jones Band and currently for the Ingredients, enjoying much success across the North West and North Wales. I also sing for Stage to Stage a talented group of amateur singers, whose mission is to bring the magic of professional musical theatre to a stage near you and raise money for local charities in the process. I am available for private hire as a soloist and cocktail pianist or entertainer, teach piano to a range of ages and standards and entertain the residents of EMI and residential care homes throughout North Wales and the North West.

I had Chris, together with guirarist Dave and double bassist Ed, to play at my 40th birthday party in March. They were superb! As it was held in a smaller venue and with a mix of people with varying tastes in music, I didn’t want anything too overwhelming but the guys pitched it just right and provided a wonderful programme of jazz and easy listening which took us from dessert through to the end of the night. Dealing with Chris is so easy and nothing is too much trouble. I knew that aspect of the evening was in safe hands. Highly recommended. Thanks guys xx

Would highly recommend Chris Sims for all your entertainment needs. He recently performed a diverse repertoire at my sister's 18th birthday party at Llantysilio Hall and he went down extremely well. A true professional who is always happy to accommodate your schedule and musical taste!

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Timings always change, so I'm quite flexible as long I don't have another gig booked if it's on the day.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide a music service before, between an after sets, it just depends for how long but a fee can be arranged.

How much time do you need to set up?

It takes about 40 minutes to set up and do a sound check if using a PA, else as a soloist about 20 minutes if I am using my own stage piano.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes, as long as its in tune and in working order i.e no damaged keys.
