I have been studying music since I was a child. When I was 8, I started taking piano
lessons and participating in children choirs. Nowadays my Classical music education
contains certificates in Piano performance, Harmony & Theory of Music as well as
Counterpoint Composition.
I have been studying classical vocals for 3 years with a well-known singer of Greek
National Opera. Since the beginning of this year, I am practicing contemporary vocal
techniques with Jenny Howe, lecturer of The institute of contemporary music. After this
year I am preparing for giving exams for the grade 8 on contemporary vocals.
During my undergraduate years in the Music Department of National Kapodistrian
University I was part of the Department’s Choir. Meanwhile, I started directing my own
children choir. In 2011 I participated in the choir of a Greek Operetta, produced by The
Beggar’s Operas. Since I arrived here in London this September I participated in the
university’s jazz vocal ensemble for a couple of months.
My preference varies between the alternative genres of music like Indie, Alternative rock
but also Jazz,Soul and Bossa Nova. I started to sing with bands when I was a teenager. I
have performed at several venues and festivals in Athens and my dream is to start performing
in London too. This summer I am completing my first EP with 4 original songs.
My influences are coming mostly from the alternative music scene and especially bands
like Paramore, Coldplay, Kings of Leon e.t.c. I also appreciate many bands and artists like
Kadebostany and Florence and the Machine, not only for their extraordinary voices but
also for their compositions. Finally, I always admired and studied great jazz voices like Ella
Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
