Chris Tavener is a singer-songwriter known for performing over 300 gigs a year. Whether it's a wedding, a christening, a birthday, an opening ceremony - Chris has done it all. His unique voice and guitar-playing style has seen him garner attention from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Jamie Lawson, Carl Barat of The Libertines and many fans across the country. Manchester Academy selected him to perform a huge support show for Peep Show's Super Hans and he played The Lowry Lyric Theatre for Children In Need in December 2018. Also in 2018, Chris took on a European tour to The Netherlands, Germany and France. That was quickly followed by a UK Tour, visiting 14 different cities. He's now writing material for a feature film documentary and for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Chris is one of the most hard-working musicians in the North West. His cover song sets are energetic and highly engaging for an audience. The material he plays is a varied array of songs to suit all ages from 1950s rock 'n' roll right through to modern pop and indie. He's adaptable to many venues, audience sizes and varieties.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

In most cases, timing changes are no problem at all! I understand how complicated event planning can be and I'm happy to fit in with your changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide music in between my sets. We should discuss this during the booking process.

How much time do you need to set up?

My PA can be setup in 15 minutes if required

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes certainly! I encourage you to pick your favourites.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I'll provide the PA so that all you need to focus on is enjoying the music.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can learn up to two specific song requests for special occasions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I'm told that my energy and stage presence are my best qualities. I can draw the attention of a crowd and get people feeling good. Reviewers have also praised my guitar-playing and unique sounding voice. Equally, if you'd like my music as atmospheric background, then I can provide that too.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I've performed at hundreds of pubs and bars in the North West including The Acoustic Lounge in Poynton, Peaky Blinders in Liverpool and Telford's Warehouse in Chester. I've also visited 15 or so UK cities on tour and played at large venues and festivals like Manchester Academy, Glastonbury Festival and Latitude Festival.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Anyone in rock 'n' roll but I'm most influenced by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Queen Arctic Monkeys and Paolo Nutini.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

In December 2018, I performed at the 1700-capacity Lyric Theatre inside the famous Lowry Theatre, Salford. It was part of a Christmas Extravaganza for BBC's Children In Need. Peter Hook of Joy Division came on straight after me and Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet also took to the stage a short time later.
