Chris is currently coming to the end of his time studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In his two years at the Academy, Chris has won the John Solomon Brass Prize for solo performance, the Worshipful Company of Musicians Brass Ensemble Prize for Chamber music and in January 2016 was invited to the Royal College of Music to perform Peter Maxwell-Davies’ Trumpet Concerto to International trumpet virtuoso, Håkan Hardenberger. He has performed as Principal Trumpet for world renowned conductors Semyon Bychkov and Yan-Pascal Tortelier, and was selected to perform and record Stravinsky's 'L'Histoire du Soldat' under the baton of Oliver Knussen. Aside from his college life, Chris enjoys an incredibly busy career as an orchestral musician, regularly performing across the UK and abroad. Recent performances include critically acclaimed runs of Verdi’s ‘Il Trovatore’ and Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ as part of his Principal Trumpet trial with Scottish Opera, performances of Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, Richard Strauss’ ‘Don Juan’ and Prokofiev’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ as part of his Principal Trumpet trial with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and performances with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Chris has been awarded a coveted place on the Countess of Munster Musical Trust Recital Scheme for 2016/17 and is incredibly grateful to the Countess of Munster Trust, Help Musicians UK (Leggett Award), The Greenbank Scholarship and the Leverhulme Trust for supporting his studies at the Royal Academy of Music.
