Chris Goodchild

Chris is a versatile London-based trumpet player who takes on regular freelance performance work as part of a varied portfolio music career. After developing his playing with prestigious youth ensembles, LSO Next Generation, NYJO Academy Big Band and National Youth Music Theatre, Chris continued his studies at the University of Birmingham. At University, Chris studied trumpet with Steve Lee and Percy Pursglove, gaining a first for his final recital. He held the principal trumpet seats in the Philharmonic Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra and Birmingham Symphonic Brass as well as performing as Flugelhorn soloist at the UniBrass contest. After graduating from University, Chris dived into freelance performance work, taking on regular gigs alongside a job in music administration. He performs for weddings and functions as part of pop/covers bands 'Charlie and the Funk Factory' and 'Motown Gold', alongside DJ’s for high-end corporate events with 'Elegant Entertainment', and for Oktoberfest themed events with Bavarian-style 'oompah' outfit 'The Oomparty Band'. He has appeared on Channel 4's ‘8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, performing with the London Fanfare Trumpets and is a member of the Gospel Revisited Project ensemble. Chris is also a keen DJ and enjoys experimenting with live electronics and algorithmic music using coding language 'SuperCollider'.
