Chris Coull Big Band, Led by Chris Coull, an arranger and jazz composer based in Hove, East Sussex. His big band is a suavely arranged combination that brings all the sounds of a large scale big band into a compact 8 piece jazz ensemble. The band play a wide variety of big band classics such as “Lady Is A Tramp” “Let There Be Love” “In The Mood” to name just a few. With over 150 arrangements their repertoire is suitable for everything from dancing, to background dinner sets and everything in between. From UK horn stars Andy Panayi (reeds) Gabriel Garrick (trumpet) and Mike Pilley (trombone) to the hard swinging rhythm section of Peter Cater (drums) Terry Seabrook (piano) and Rhys Lovell on bass, the swash buckling style let’s fly with aplomb. The cherry on the cake is Lucy Pickering on vocals. Chris is a trumpeter and pianist as well as being a band leader for 15 years. The importance of professionalism, timeliness, dress codes and flexibility are as important to him as musically adept bandsmanship that can just as easily enthrall and excite as it can blend into the backdrop of any high society function. The band is available at its full size or with various smaller combinations depending on the client needs. During his career The Chris Coull Bid Band have played for Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, Lord Mandleson, Crowne Prince Haakon, to name a few of the band’s more well known clients. They have toured all over the world including events as far afield as Qatar, Dubai, Kuwait, Thailand and individually their members are regulars at UK summer venues such as “Appleby Jazz” and “Love Supreme Jazz Festival” The Chris Coull Big Band’s tribute to Duke Ellington; The “Tribute to the Duke” project has been several years in the making; Chris has faithfully transcribed original 20’s, 30’s and 40’s Ellington gems into a distilled selection of tunes arranged for this four horn front line, to create a fitting musical eulogy to the great man.

"We had Chris and his band play for a large party held in Brighton. What can I say? Absolutely fantastic - really professional, well turned out and bloody marvellous music! Where do you get these musicians from?! We were dancing all night long to the sounds of some proper big band stuff - loved it!" Ben Scales - Brighton.

"Getting married I decided to hire the CCBB for the drinks reception and then the first dance later on. They tailored the music exactly to my requirements, including some rather unusual requests for the first dance! (ABBA meets Frank Sinatra?!) Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a really great band" Shiona Nightingale - Portsmouth.
