Hailing from East London, Chevonne Jones is a Jazz vocalist, soul guitarist, songwriter and street performer who grew up listening to an eclectic array of music. Her first loves include Bob Marley, John Holt and Motown – all the music her mother played in her youth. She has sung in choirs from the age of 13 and her first instrument was the flute. Throughout her 20’s she decided to take a risk and train as a professional singer and has spent 13 years training with Royal Academy of Music Alumni and spectacular Bel Canto teacher Sandra Scott. Her vocals are reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald, Bille Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, as well as being influenced by today's Pop and Neo soul singer songwriters such Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, just to name a few. Chevonne is known for her lush vocals, dynamic stage presence and commanding knowledge of jazz harmony, which she has gained by studying Jazz and Pop musicianship and composition at Goldsmiths University. She has also taken part in various workshops, including the Jazz Vocal Summer School at Guildhall, led by Scott Stroman and Gitika Partington. You will find Chevonne performing on the streets of London and the National Rail, where she hones her developing guitar skills and musicianship by performing tunes from past and present and always with her own vocal twists, jazz licks and inflections which sets her apart and garners attention from the general London public. Busking provides her with the freedom to perform in any space and the confidence to cater for parties, festivals and events of all kinds. This summer she has performed at the Crystal Palace Festival and The Red Light Busking event in Walthamstow Central, which was the first time Waltham Forest has featured talented street performers.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always do my best to be flexible and accommodating to ensure the event runs smoothly as possible. If timings change in the run up to he event just let me know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. I am more than happy to provide the iPod service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, I can provide this for an additional £100

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually set up about 45 minutes before the performance time. As soon as my PA is set up I can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, I am definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes absolutely! I bring all my own complete PA system and guitar to play acoustically

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If there is a special song you want me to learn for the event I am happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc

What do your clients love most about your performances?

All my clients have said they love my soulful voice, as well as dynamic and energetic performance. They've also said they like how I arrange and modernise well known songs. For example, I have arranged Madonna's 'Like A Virgin' into a sexy blues, and include a few Hip Hop numbers too, which surprises and delights audiences.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed The Catcher In The Rye in Finchley, Rupert Street Bar in Soho, as well as corporate events at Grays Inn Road, Ronnie Scotts and private events and birthday parties.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I am influenced by an eclectic array of artists such as Amy Winehouse, Erikah Badu, Michael Jackson and Alicia Keys. I also love jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan as well as known contemporaries.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The most high profile gig i've performed was for a corporate event in Gray's Inn Road, which houses ITN Productions; an award-winning creative production arm of ITN, producing over 10,000 hours of content every year for broadcasters, businesses, brands, rights holders and digital channels.

For the Red Light Busking event, Chevonne proved to be extremely professional when working with her. She was always willing to go the extra mile for the event by recording extra footage for the event, and during the actual event she kept crowds and and staff entertained throughout for hours. All I had was positive feedback from her performance, and I'll definitely be working with her again in the future.
